I was replacing my steering wheel, so that was the natural time to fix this common issue with our cars. 

The entire ignition switch was loose on the steering wheel column, and the trim piece escutcheon was missing.  My Z did not have key release button and the part number for the escutcheon without the hole was 48474-44P10. 

Note, some Z's have a key release button and some do not.
