Track day at Watkins Glen was part of the planned activities for the ZCON convention in Syracuse, New York that year.   

My only prior track experience was at Sebring, Florida, another great, historical track.  However, being in Florida, SIR was about as flat as it gets.  The elevation changes at WGI were an exciting new experience.

There is a 115 foot drop in elevation from the "bus stop," which is the little dent in the long, back straight, to the "toe of the boot" in the bottom right corner.  We did the long course which was 3.4 miles.
