If the whole hatch seems to have a little to much slop in it when closed, this worked for me.

This is where the above bumper stop rests on the body.  These black stock rubber bumpers get compressed with age.  I bought these one inch felt pads in the furniture hardware section of a Home Depot. They have adhesive on one side and fit perfectly inside as shown.  

The felt pads lasted about two years before they got compressed and the hatch started rattling again.  Replaced with new felt pads, good to go.
